We use our toothbrush every morning and evening but remembering to change it often can very easily be a forgotten task.
Oral Health is part of our overall health. This means that caring for the tools we use to keep our mouths healthy is just as important as remembering to brush our twice daily in the first place.
Canadian Dental Hygienists recommend that we change our toothbrushes every 3-4 months. Upon reaching the 3-4 month period our toothbrush should start to fray and become less effective. Be sure to keep an eye out for when the toothbrush bristles become out of uniform with the rest.
The toothbrush changing rule is broken when it comes to kids and being sick.
Kids tend to brush their teeth harder which causes their toothbrush to wear down faster resulting in the need for a new toothbrush sooner. After being sick our toothbrushes should be one of the FIRST things to go into the recycling bin to eliminate all those harmful viral or bacterial germs.
