This fever grass, also known as Lemongrass, is a traditional favourite of Jamaican parents for the relief of tough fevers and colds.
Many Jamaican households have grown it on a subsistence level in their backyard, but it may also be seen growing in the wild.
HOW TO MAKE FEVER GRASS TEA:
The fever grass is broken into smaller pieces and placed in a container of boiling water.
Allow it to boil for 60 seconds, allow to steep for another few minutes, then remove and sweeten with your favourite sweetener.
Please note that the leaves of the fever grass may also be used to add flavour and aroma to dishes. Hang indoors, it also adds a fresh scent to rooms and is also widely used as an insect repellent.
